TSB

Congratulations to the Bermans for the birth of their son Trevor on February 29th 2012!  I cannot wait to meet him and get out for a jog together.  I am still a little skeptical that my good friends were able to produce something so beautiful and wonderful as Trevor, but I will take people's word for it until we meet.

Otherwise training is going good.  Slight hamstring pull about two weeks ago during our Tuesday interval workout, but I have been able to recoup.  I am currently on vacation and have supplemented a lot of running with some 1-2 hour cross country skiing workouts being that I am in Alaska visiting my parents with the future bride to be and her parents.

The winter has not been as kind to them in the Great North Country.  I believe this is a record breaking year for snowfall in Anchorage, Alaska (close to 126" or 10.5')!  No room to run on the road since there is so much effing snow!

Be back to Boston tomorrow....

Great Times For the Kids

Oh hey there...thanks for coming back to check out the progress of Team Dick-Man.  There is so much going on with the team it is hard to keep track of it all.  We cannot thank you enough for coming to the Baseball Tavern on January 28th to help us get closer to our fundraising goal and closer to the finish line on Boylston!  We raised close to $3000 with your help and with help from a number of great local and regional donations.  We also received a couple timely donations from James and Sarah (Celtics Tickets) and Paul and Sue Cronin (Red Sox Tickets).  Without their help and yours we could not have had the same unforgettable time and gotten such a terrific turnout.

In the time since the party we have been working hard with our fellow Bay State Team members running intervals on the Heartbreak Hills every Tuesday night.  The sprints have been paying off and we are getting much stronger and our recovery times are noticeably shorter after each workout.  On the weekends we are getting to a long run with the same group heading out from the Marriot in the Back Bay and extending our loop farther and farther out each week.  Roughly two more months before the showdown.

And not too long from now we will have a new Team Dick-Man fan and another potential Bay State Gamer in the making.  Estimated arrival is around February 20th.  I cannot wait to meet our new fan.  We will surely need their support come April 16th!

Boston Prep 16 Miler Derry, NH

Your favorite Team, Team Dick-Man cruised through another 16 miles this past weekend along with Jess McNulty and none other than Colby College Professor, Paul Josephson.

I don't think any of us knew what we were getting into, but it surely didn't scare us.  Will I run this race again?  TBD.  God it felt good though.

Lady/man who made chili for post race meal is a savior.

Berman took off his rollerblades for this shot.

Just add ten more miles and you got it!

Earned the nickname "The De-Icer" for blazing through this course.

College Bowl Pick'Em Champ Justin Smith

Congrats to Justin Smith on his victory in the College Bowl Pick'em Challenge.  Had LSU won the event I would have propelled past Justin and pulled off a miraculous victory for the Bay State Games and of course the kids.  Too bad Les Miles didn't prepare his Tigers for the Tide defense, which was completely suffocating and who performed at a level we may never see again in college football.

Roll Tide Justin.
$275 is on its way.

For the rest of you sitting there with the bitter taste of defeat in your mouth get involved by signing up for our Superbowl Squares game the night of our Marathon Party at the Baseball Tavern on January 28th.  Addtionally come March we will get a super-amazing NCAA basketball tournament pool going.  Stay tuned as always and thanks for the continuous support.

Grin and Bear It

Nate:  "So here is the turnaround for the 10 mile loop.  What do you think?  Should I ball out and go thirteen today down to South Cape Beach or do you want to head back?"

Katie (on bike): "Well you are looking pretty strong now so I think you should do 13."

Cape Cod 13 Miler

Thank you Katie.

508s and Heartbreaks

This is the face of a man who just ran the Heartbreak Hills.  You tell me who won that battle.  It also looks to me like someone got a new running shirt for Chrismukkah thumb holes and all!!
